LANI stands for Life Assistance and Navigation for Islanders, a name reflecting our purpose and deep connection to the Polynesian community. Lani, in Hawaiian, means “heaven,” symbolizing guidance, clarity, and higher support.

As a child of immigrant parents, I understand firsthand the challenges many in our community—especially our elders—face when navigating the Social Security system. I’ve seen how difficult it can be for them to understand the process, access the right information, and apply for their entitled benefits. Like many first-generation children, I’ve often served as a translator and advocate for my family, helping them through complex paperwork and government procedures.
